Jean Thomas is a multi-award winning conservationists living and breathing her purpose to protect rainforest and communities in Papua New Guinea.
Her list of achievements includes convincing people to no longer hunt critically endangered Tree kangaroos and seeing the Tenkile Tree kangaroo population increase from 100 to over 300. Protecting 180,000 hectares of rainforest in northern Papua New Guinea. Providing much-needed services including alternative protein, water supplies and multiple education programs to 50 participating villages benefitting 13,000 people.
Consequently, Jean was awarded the future for nature award, Telstra business Women’s award for social and purpose enterprise and with her husband Jim, the Australian Geographic Conservationists of the year.
