Let me count the ways
(with apologies to Elizabeth Browning)
I’m 70 years old. I didn’t grow up with technology. I’m a Digital Dinosaur.
I was busy riding horses when the internet happened.
I half-heartedly took to emails because they are easier than faxes and letters.
I was a reluctant adopter of most tech innovations from computers to social media.
As a late starter I can hardly Facebook, don’t know Instagram, cannot fathom Tiktok, barely touch on Linked In, and might get a tweet out successfully but, then again, maybe not.
So what is this Digi Dino doing touting trans tech?
My only answer can be that I like to look around corners at what might be the future plus I still need more work on my own development, whether in business, as a member of groups and teams, as a human being….
I need transformative tech and I believe our future needs it, too!
I was only inspired to go this direction last year by my wonderful friend and mentor, Troy Haines. I joined the TransTech Academy online, bought one TT device and then another, and was hooked!
What got a Digital Dino hooked on new technology?
First a confession: I learnt to meditate when I was 17 when good old Transcendental Meditation was blossoming amongst us hippy types in the ’60s. For over 50 years I have sporadically but consistently tried to establish a meditation routine. I’ve gone to endless gurus, started my own meditation groups, attended Vipassana’s, taken courses. Some of you will know that path as well as or better than I do!
Until to my amazement, my new Focus Band, a tiny, personalised electroencephalogram (see footnote) or EEG in a neoprene headband turned my life-long failure into an all but instant success. By receiving direct, immediate and apparently rather accurate objective feedback, I have managed an all but daily meditation practice for the last 3 months! Long years of failure turned into an instant success thanks to Focus Band?
Do note that I still had to work away at it! This is not a silver bullet! However, for me, it worked and it keeps on working!
And I’m feeling other benefits one of which is improved sleep by combining the EEG feedback about my brain waves from the FocusBand and some very intensive sleep data from my Oura Ring, I have also managed to tone down my insomnia and upgrade my sleep. Sound like something you could use?
So thanks to Focus Band:
- Ability to concentrate is up
- Compulsive thoughts have reduced
- Sleep improved
- Cognition is clearer. Memory better.
- Meditation practice established
- Feeling calmer from improving my sympathetic/parasympathetic nervous system balance by having objective feedback about it
Imagine this: I feel less inclined to talk!
All in all, the FocusBand has been great news for me and my business life as well as my life outside of business.
How did an aging hippy finally get hooked on tech? You’ve read my story! What’s yours?
Electroencephalography (EEG) is the measurement of electrical activity produced by the brain. EED was invented over a century ago by Hans Berger and was first used on humans in the 1920s to ascertain if a person’s brain was still functioning during operations. From https://focusband.com/
During an EEG, small electrodes and wires are attached to your head. The electrodes detect your brain waves and the EEG machine amplifies the signals and records them in a wave pattern on graph paper or a computer screenhttps://mayfieldclinic.com/pe-eeg.htm
